WAYS TO GET INVOLVED AT HOLY CROSS


SERVING IN Worship

Ushers - Four ushers are needed for the 10 a.m. service. Participants are asked to commit for two Sundays in succession, usually two times per year. Men and women, youth and families are welcome to usher.

Acolytes - students 5th grade and up serve as acolytes in worship. Training is offered during confirmation class. Acolytes light and extinguish the altar candles, carry the processional cross, receive the gifts of bread, wine, and money, and serve grape juice during the Meal.

Altar Guild -The Altar Guild is responsible for the care of the Nave or Sanctuary,preparing the altar for Holy Communion, hanging appropriate paraments and banners for festivals and the changing seasons of the church year.

Assisting Ministers - lead the prayers of intercession, offering prayer and post-communion prayer, distribute the elements during the Meal and offer the dismissal as the worship ends.

Choir - Senior Choir - Sing weekly September through May. Practice Wednesdays at 7:45 p.m.

Chancel Bell Choir - Ring at special services from September through May. Practice Wednesdays at 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Musicians - Play an instrument during a service. See the Worship and Music team, the pastor or the choir director.

Lectors - Those with a gift for public speaking or those who enjoy reading aloud read the first and second lessons on Sundays during the service. A sign-up sheet is on the cork board outside the Operations Manager's office.

Cantors - Cantors are singers who lead parts of the liturgy in worship such as the Kyrie, introduction to the Hymn of Praise, and the Psalm. See a pastor or our organist/choir director to serve in this way. You need not be a member of the choir or attend choir rehearsals to do this.



SERVING IN Membership and Evangelism-

Greeters - Greeters welcome all worshippers as they enter the Nave. Commitment is for one Sunday service.

Coffee/Tea & Lemonade Servers - Servers make and serve coffee and tea between services. During the summer iced tea and lemonade are served.

Call the church office if you can help or sign up on the kiosk.


SERVING IN Christian Education-

Sunday School Teacher - Teachers are responsible for preparing lesson from provided curriculum at 10 a.m. and teaching from September through May.

Vacation Bible School Staff - There are a variety of ways to help with Vacation Bible School. Individuals can teach, help, serve snacks, take photographs, lead music or assist with decorating. The youth also have a role as grade-level helpers.


SERVING OTHERS WITH Education-

KIDS HOPE USA - Kids Hope USA is a national mentoring program for at-risk elementry students. The program matches one church with one elementary school. One mentor with one child one hour per week. Prayer Partners are needed for each mentor. Call the church if you are able to be a mentor or want to be a prayer partner.
