Week of May 13, 2012

6th Sunday of Easter

ANNOUNCEMENTS/CROSS CONNECTIONS
Connecting God's People to God's Work

Our vision is to be a community of faith where people are inspired and equipped for a journey of living lives centered in Christ.

Faith Forum: Living the Questions: May 20, Creative Transformation.

MAY NEWSLETTERS are in your mailboxes & the Lutheran magazine is available for pick-up.

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  Today is the last day of Sunday School.  Children please attend service with your family during the summer.

THANK YOU for sharing your Baptismal certificates.  Please take them from the showcase today, it’s time to thank the musicians!!

TEACHER RECOGNITION is May 20 during the children’s sermon.

HONOR/REMEMBER YOUR MOTHER this mother’s day with one of three options:  Sponsor a flat of flowers to be planted in the labyrinth.  Fill out a pew envelope and indicate labyrinth flowers with check or cash for $10.00.  Help plant a flat of flowers on May 26, weather permitting.  Or come on May 26 for fellowship with other gardeners and share stories/fond memories of your mother.  If you would like to make other donations toward the labyrinth, for example a bench or tree, please contact Lisa Heise (313-520-7081) or Jeff Schuman

BOOK DISCUSSION:  will meet at 3:30 pm on May 17.  They will be discussing Lake Wobegon Summer 1956 by Garrison Keillor.

RED WAGON PROJECT:  During the month of May we are collecting books for the Red Wagon Project.  The greatest need is for hard cover baby books and soft cover chapter books for grades 4-8.

UPCOMING FELLOWSHIP EVENTS:
May 20  TOUR OF DETROIT: from 12:15-5:30, we will have a bus tour to familiar landmarks as well as parts of Detroit you may have only heard or read about.  Our tour guide will be Dr. Ren Farley, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at UM.  He will show us highlights of Detroit’s past, present, and future while describing the city as someone who has spent years studying its social and economic history.  His presentation style is easygoing and entertaining, but you will definitely learn new things about Detroit (even those who have lived in the city their whole lives)!  Most of the narration is done on the bus, but there are opportunities to get out and explore a few of the sites beyond what can be seen from the bus windows.  Tickets are on sale after church in the narthex for $20 or by contacting Lynette Hoelter (lhoelter@umich.edu <mailto:lhoelter@umich.edu> ; 734 615-5653 [w]; or 734 347-8182 [c].  Hope to see you on the bus!

ALL LADIES:  WELCA spring general meeting  June 2 at 10:00 am for a "Walk with God".  Pastor Sharon Janot will be giving a talk about the
labyrinth followed by brunch and for those who can stay, walking the
labyrinth.  Tickets will be on sale May 20th and May 27.

Youth Events:
H.S. Youth 5:00 pm every other Sunday
