NONFOOD ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE IN NEED

Holy Cross Lutheran Church in partnership with the city of Livonia has begun a nonfood pantry for residents of Livonia in need. St. Matthews United Methodist Church of Livonia and the Livonia Rotary Club also assist with donations along with church members of Holy Cross.

Two members, Tammy and Joe Wojcik are key to making this operation work, along with Cross Connections Coordinator, Rickey Amstutz who is on the staff of Holy Cross. Tammy and Joe organize things and put the boxes together and Ricky is responsible for giving them out. This project helps those who can't use their government assistance for nonfood items, as only food is covered.

Those Livonia residents in need should go to Sharon Sabat at the city of Livonia office to be qualified for a referral. The referral is then brought to Rickey at Holy Cross. We distribute about 10 boxes a week, but we can't possibly help everybody. Any donations [one time or ongoing] will definitely be appreciated and will be accepted at the church from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Nonfood items are generally given out Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays during business hours.

For additonal information, contact Rickey Amstutz at Holy Cross at rickey@holycrosslivonia.org or phone the church (734) 427-1414 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Thursday or Friday.
