Worship

Music

Music is an integral part of the worship experience at Holy Cross. Seasonal liturgy is supported by congregational singing led by pipe organ, piano and choir, all under the direction of our Cantor, Michael Burkhardt. The 8:00 worship service provides a more intimate experience without the addition of choir. The 10:00 worship service features more singing and is supported by both the vocal choir and a variety of instrumental music.

Music Ensembles

  • Handbells: The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:15. Holy Cross has 5 octaves of Malmark handbells and 3 octaves of Malmark handchimes.
  • Vocal Choir: The choir of nearly 30 voices rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00. In addition to supporting congregational singing, the choir typically shares an anthem each week from September through May with special seasonal offerings as appropriate. The choir enjoys singing a wide variety of music from week to week.
  • Seasonal Choirs: For those unable to make a weekly commitment for the entire year, we expand the handbell and vocal choirs for seasonal opportunities during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter.
